An American writer and performer with more than five decades of professional experience, from church variety shows in Ipswich, Massachusetts to dance halls, a Swedish dance resort, and a catalog of hundreds of songs.
Biography
David B. Wilson is an American singer-songwriter, composer, lyricist, and author with more than five decades of professional experience writing and performing. Born in Ipswich, Massachusetts, he first took the stage at age four, singing “Side by Side” with his brother Richard in a church variety show. He began his professional performing career in 1969 and made entertainment his full-time profession in 1981. He later spent 16 years in Florida, where he owned two dance halls in Largo known as The Dance Studio.
Over the course of his performing career, Wilson appeared throughout the United States and Canada, as well as across Europe and in Japan. His career later took him to Sweden, where he owned Bödabaden, a dance resort featuring multiple dance floors, bars, accommodations, and a diverse program of dance events and workshops.
Wilson has written hundreds of songs spanning more than five decades. His catalog ranges from Western swing and country to theatrical, comedic, and contemporary songwriting, with recent works including “Dancing on the Moon,” “Twenty Years and One More Day,” “The Crowd Says Encore,” and “Still Reaching for Daddy’s Hand.”
His musical David, an original theatrical work inspired by the biblical story of David and his journey from shepherd to king, is scheduled to begin releasing in early 2027.
